Job Announcement: Bookkeeper/Administrative Assistant

Position Description
This position will be primarily remote with a preference for occasional in-person meetings once/month or a few times per quarter.
This is an independent contractor position, at 10-20hr/month. There may be an opportunity to expand hours and responsibilities as the company grows.
Daily duties may include but are not limited to:
Creating Purchase Orders.
Entering invoices in Quickbooks and reviewing the Accounts Payable (AP) reports for any AP requiring payment in the near-future.
Making payments to vendors.
Posting unapplied banking entries to the appropriate category/account, class and customer/product in Quickbooks. Will eventually add other classes in order to track costs for each home we build.
Responding to requests for financial information primarily derived from Quickbooks data.
Other assistance on administrative items as requested by team members
Month-end duties include, but are not limited to:
Ensuring all transactions for the previous period have been posted.
Review balance sheets and income statements and create journal entries to correct any unusual or out of place transactions in Quickbooks.
Make accruals when appropriate.
Make accounting entries to account for any “Construction in Progress” cost for homes that have not been sold yet.
Review balance sheet, income statements, and cash flow statements for accuracy and correctness.
Review finalized spending against the annual budget and analyze any discrepancies and make corrections if necessary.
Create financial package in Quickbooks and run the report, review, and then circulate.
Close out the month in Quickbooks to ensure prior period entries are not made.
Qualifications
General knowledge of accounting. College degree in accounting, finance, business or 5 years of commensurate experience preferred.
Quickbooks and Excel experience
Strong analytical and problem solving skills
Strong communication skills, self-driven to get the required information
Understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
Strong ethics
Familiarity with Google Drive/Google Workspace.
Candidate must be located in Maine, preferably in the Midcoast region
Compensation: $25/hour
